INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY

It’s time to say Thank You to our nurses from around the world! It’s International Nurses Day 2016!

International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every 12th May as it is the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth, who is widely considered the founder of modern nursing. Every day, nursing staff all around the world go the extra mile for their patients. International Nurses’ Day (#IND2016 ) is your chance to say thank you to them. Don’t forget to say your thank you on social media using #ThankANurse

The International College of Nursing has celebrated International Nurses Day every year since 1965. Every year International Nurses Day celebrates a theme. This year 2016 is Nurses: A Force for Change: Improving health systems’ resilience.

Each country around the world have their own celebrations. For UK every year a service is held in Westminster Abbey in London. During the Service, a symbolic lamp is taken from the Nurses’ Chapel in the Abbey and handed from one nurse to another, then onto the Dean, who places it on the High Altar. This signifies the passing of knowledge from one nurse to another. At St. Margaret’s Church at East Wellow, Hampshire, where Florence Nightingale is buried, a service is also held on the Sunday after her birthday.

There is also a National Student Nurses Day which is celebrated on 8th May every year which started in 2008.

If you are interested in organising a presentation or awareness training on Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) for your team of nurses or student nurses, please contact us and let us know your requirements!

THANK YOU ALL from the Burning Nights CRPS Support team! #ThankANurse
